Wintergreen receives $8,000 Rapid Response Grant from Onion Foundation

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine—Wintergreen Arts Center recently received a $8,000 Rapid Response Grant from the Onion Foundation, a private philanthropic foundation based in Auburn, Maine.

The gift supports Wintergreen’s general operations.

“This grant helps ensure Wintergreen’s ability to fully staff and run our summer arts program,” said Dottie Hutchins, Wintergreen’s executive director.  “With the financial hardship many families are experiencing, the demand for scholarships has nearly tripled.  At the same time, our overhead has increased to meet more programming needs.”

Wintergreen Arts Center is committed to serve all children regardless of their ability to pay.  Funding in support of general operations to provide free community programming is critical to the organization’s mission and mandate.

“The Onion Foundation is such an extraordinary community partner,” said Hutchins.  “Because Wintergreen is a previous grant recipient, the Foundation Staff and Trustees reached out to us offering this timely and generous support.  They are amazing and truly understand the needs of a community-based arts center.”
