Presque Isle, Maine—Wintergreen Arts Center will host a Summer Arts Student Showcase on Friday, July 29, at 6:00 PM. Campers participating in Wintergreen’s many visual and digital summer arts camps will display their creativity.
With offerings from Art with HeART, to Nature & Art, Adopt-a-Pet, Clay Creations, Wintergreen Kids News Network and other camps, over 330 children are participating in 20 unique summer arts camps at three different locations this year.
“We invite everyone to come enjoy what our talented young artists are creating this summer,” said Shaye McHatten, Wintergreen’s head summer arts teacher. “We added even more camps, teachers, and concepts to help each student express their individuality through the arts.”
Wintergreen works in partnership with the Presque Isle Recreation & Parks Department and the Presque Isle Housing Authority to provide affordable, high quality summer arts programming available to all local youth.
Art with HeART is held in the Birch Street Neighborhood and is free for all local children. Summer Art at the Rec is held at the Sargent Family Community Center and a variety of arts camps are held throughout the day at Wintergreen’s space at the Aroostook Centre Mall. No child is turned away due to inability to pay. Scholarships are available.
Wintergreen’s programming is funded in part by local donors as well as grants from the Onion Foundation, Davis Family Foundation, Maine Community Foundation, and the Maine Arts Commission, an independent state agency supported by the National Endowment for the Arts.
The Summer Arts Student Showcase is free and open to the public.
